Why The Pipeline Project Exists
The Pipeline Project was created to address a growing challenge in the ski industry: a lack of awareness and connection between K–12 students, educators, and career opportunities in mountain operations.
Most students never hear about the wide range of careers that keep resorts running - roles in lift operations, snowmaking, grooming, and more. Just as importantly, many educators aren’t aware these pathways exist either, making it nearly impossible to introduce them in the classroom. The result is a disconnect: an industry facing workforce shortages, and a generation of students who have never been shown these opportunities.
The Pipeline Project exists to bridge that gap - bringing visibility to these careers, connecting schools with the industry, and helping students discover paths they didn’t know were possible.
Founder & Educator
The organization was founded by Tiffany Whitcomb, a former CTE business teacher in New Hampshire.
Through her experience in the classroom, she saw firsthand that students had the skills - but not the exposure - to pursue careers in the ski industry.
The Pipeline Project was created to bridge that gap.

What Makes This Approach Different
The Pipeline Project focuses on connecting all parts of the workforce system:
-
Students, who need exposure to real careers
-
Educators, who influence career pathways
-
Resorts and industry partners, who need skilled talent
By working across all three, The Pipeline addresses gaps that individual schools or resorts typically cannot solve on their own.
Looking Ahead
The Pipeline Project partners with schools, resorts, and industry leaders to strengthen connections between education and the ski industry.
Through membership, resorts gain ongoing value through workforce visibility, student engagement, and long-term talent development.
